London - Ulaanbaatar direct flights
S. Batmonkh, chief of the Civil Aviation Authority of Mongolia (CAA) and B. Erdenebileg, Director General at MIAT Company visited Great Britain from November 24-26, 2008.
At their meeting with Sir Roy McNalty, head of Great Britain's Civil Aviation Authority and Simon Knight, a Department head in the hitters Transportation Ministry, agreement was reached to provide regular direct flights between London and Ulaanbaatar. According to agreement, the two countries were to start relevant preparations for the first of these flights to commence on July 1.2009. The sides concurred that civil exchanges would increase thanks to opening these flights and that favorable conditions would be created for British investors and businessmen to visit Mongolia.
Furthermore, ties would widen in the trade, economic and business sectors. After surveying several airports and exchanging views in regard to the proposed direct flights with officials at all the airports, the Mongolian delegation visited London's 'Gatwick' airport to view its operations. In addition, the delegates met with John Grogan. a Member of the British Parliament and head of the British-Mongolian Parliamentary Group, in order to share views on bilateral relations and collaboration.
