Mongolia Gobi Gurvan Saikhan National Park Land of

Gobi Gurvan Saikhan (Three Wonders of Gobi) National Park is situated in the west of the city of Dalanzadgad soum of Omnogobi province. The park was protected in 1965 for reserving the beautiful nature of Yolyn-Am of the East Saikhan Mountain.
Yolyn-Am is land of tourism. In 1993, by Parliament resolution No.83, its territory was extended by further including territories of Khongor’s sand dune, as well as precious paleontological sites of Nemegt, Khermen Tsav, and Zulganai’s River. It is comprised of 27 million hectares in area.
The national park is full of mountains and caves named the Gurvansaikhan, Sevrei, Zoolon, Khongor and Zulganai which are located in Bayandalai, Sevrei, Bulgan, Khurmen and Gurvantes soums of Omnogobi province.
The land of caves and mountains is 2,400-2,600 meters above sea level. The Khongor’s sand dune is one of the Mongolian longest sand dunes and continues 180 kilometers from northwest into southeastern in Sevrei and Bayandalai soums of Omnogobi province. The land is most dry land in Mongolia and Central Asia.
The popular rivers are Yol, Zulganat, Khongor Khavtsgait and Gegeet. Rivers are not full of water in this vicinity due to dry weather. The few salt lakes dried up in summer. Mountains are looks brown for brown soil of desert and steppe.
Zuunsaikhan, Dundsaikhan, Baruunsaikhan, Bayandalai, Zoolon, Sevrei and Nemegt of the Gobi-Altai mountain grows the special flower and plants. Southern cool plants and Center Asian dry plants are found in this mountains range.
The area is rich in Fauna. There are mountain sheep, goats, leopards, black-tailed marten of cliffs, lynx, wildcats, squirrels, white gazelles and other mammal animals.
Nature, history and cultural memory areas in the National Park:
Yolyn Am (Eagle Valley): is situated in east north part of Zuun Saikhan Mountain. This area has been main attraction of tourists for many decades. Sacred appearance of this land is being destroyed by influence of human establishments.
Dungeneegyn Am: is located in southwestern part of Zuunsaikhan and Bayandalai soum. The area’s length is 12 kilometers. There are cliff, canyon, caves and rivers. It is one of the tourist attractions. Tourists can see mountain sheep and mountain goat in here. Sacred appearance is not changed.
Khongor River: it is situated in Sevrei soum and length is 180 kilometers. The area is popular for tourist attractions for desert, rivers and green meadow. Khongor and Khomon’s desert looks like white, yellowish in south and white in southeastern. Khomon’s desert is a plain land. People live near the river which destroyed the green meadow and ecosystem of the area.
Zulganain River: it is situated in west part of Gobi-Gurvansaikhan National Park and Gurvantes soum. The land is one of the few oases of river. The place is popular tourist attractions.
Gegeetyn Am: is situated between Baruunsaikhan and Bayanbor Mountains. This is the origin of river of stream water. Mountain sheep and goat live in canyons at two sides. The area is special for plant and flower. Juniper and Altai’s onion grows in cold.
Burkhant Mountain: is located in most west part of Gobi-Gurvansaikhan National Park. It has not lost the sacred appearance of ancient look. Elm and Tooroi plant grows in here. Tourist attracted to its wild animals: mountain sheep, goat and black-tailed gazelle.
Khermen Tsav: it is located in 30 kilometers from Zulganai’s River and west part of Gurvantes soum.
The area consists of many caves. The Zamba-lizard and dog-lizard is attractive reptile as tourist attractions.
Ulaan Khongil: the main attraction is ancient animals and plants extractions. There are many rare plants and animals with natural beauty. The place is another tourist attractions.
History and Cultural Memorable Areas:
There are many findings of archeology, remains of ancient city, monasteries, wreck, graves, burial-mound, cave paintings, petroglyphs, and stone figures.
Khermen Tsav and Nemegt Mountain are home to world reknown discoveries of lizard of Cretaceous-era dinosaurs.
Moreover, 30 new findings such as ancient mammals, dinosaurs, tortoise and crocodile were found from 20 different areas such as Nemegt, Altan uul, Bugyn tsav, Khermen Tsav, Naranbulag, Ulaan Khongil, Tsagaan Khoshuu, Togrogyn Shiree, Unegen Khongil, Tsonj Shurguul, Ukhaa Tolgoi, Udan Sair and Gilbent.
