Mongolia livestock is reached to 42.2 million

Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ According to a preliminary conclusion of the livestock census, the number of Mongolia's livestock reached 42 million 195 thousand as of the end of 2008, the National Statistics Commission (NSC) of Mongolia reports Monday.

The number of Mongolia livestock has increased by 1.9 million against the previous year. The census was carried out nationwide between December 7 and 17. According to the preliminary results, Mongolia is home to 261.8 thou. of camels, 2.122,4 thou. of horses, 2.448,3 thou. of cattle, 17.898.0 thou. of sheep, 19.465,4 thou. of goat.

The number of camel has increased 1.2 thou., cattle by 22.4 thou., sheep by 907.9 thou. and of goat has risen by 1.117.6 thou., respectively. The number of horses has decreased 117,1 thou.

The number of Mongolia livestock has risen in provinces of Arkhangai, Bayankhongor, Bulgan, Dornogobi, Dornod, Zavkhan, Ovorkhangai, Omnogobi, Selenge, Tov, Khovsgol, Darkhan-Uul, Orkhon and in Ulaanbaatar city from 14.2 thou. to 466.7 thou., while decreasing in provinces of Bayan-Olgii, Gobi-Altai, Dundgobi, Sukhbaatar, Uvs, Khovd, Khentii and Gobisumber from 31.6 thou. to 249.8 thou.

Khovsgol province is listed the first by its number of animals followed by Ovorkhangai, Arkhangai, Zavkhan and Tov.
