Mongolia in an annual report by World bank and International Finance Corporation
Mongolia was ranked the 58th easiest country in which to do business out of 181 countries surveyed in an annual report by the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation. Last year, it was ranked 55th out of 174 countries surveyed.
The sixth annual “Doing Business Report” presented quantitative indicators on business regulations and the protection of property rights that can be compared across 181 economies, from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe, over time.
10 stages of a business’ life are measured: starting a business, dealing with construction permits, employing workers, registering property, getting credit, protecting investors, paying taxes, trading across borders, enforcing contracts and closing a business. Data in Doing Business 2008 is current as of June 1, 2008. The indicators are used to analyze economic outcomes and identify what reforms have worked, where, and why.
Looking at the overall rankings of other countries in the region, Singapore ranked first, Japan 12, Korea 23, Taiwan China 61, Kazakhstan 70, China 83 and the Russian Federation 120.
