Nomads in Gobi - The Last of Nomads

I love the nomads in Gobi because of their hospitality. Their hospitality is very special because Gobi is one of the most sparsely populated areas not only in Mongolia but in many parts on earth. Tell me if you know those places.

Approximately 10 percent of the population which is less than 300,000 live in the land the size of France. The next door neighbor can live somewhere within 20-30 km range.

When we got lost which happens to even experienced drivers, we had to stay over at nomads in Middle Gobi province. They accepted us as if we known each other for a long time and they were literally happy that we stopped by.

There is a Mongolian saying; if you let the guests get cold during the night you might loose your sheep.

You can enjoy the close up professional movie about the Gobi, unfortunately, it is in Mongolian language. Watch the movie and learn the language.

We brought some veggies and special ingredients fresh from the city markets for cooking. The hosts gladly provided fresh meat and we shared the big meal together. After the meal we had fun time playing all kinds of silly games. Even though they are known by their timidity in real life they are very open to friendships. They love singing and enjoy the company of strangers.

Roughly one third of Mongolia including 5 Gobi provinces are part of great Gobi Desert. These are Bayankhongor, South Gobi, Middle Gobi, East Gobi, Gobi Soumber and Gobi Altai. There is a lot to say about the getaway places in Gobi. Share your story about the nomads in Gobi Desert.
